In which area do you work at DRÄXLMAIER? What do you do in your job?
I am responsible for monitoring and managing the regional EHS management systems to support process and data management for environment, health and safety.
How is your role related to sustainability?
As an EHS employee, my role is closely linked to our sustainability approach. In terms of sustainability, my key role is to plan, execute and maintain area-wide environmental permit management and pollution prevention programs that apply to the entire region.
How does your work contribute to the DRÄXLMAIER Group's sustainability goals?
Our task in the area of EHS is to protect the health and safety of employees from workplace-related hazards. In addition, we always keep an eye on the impact on the public and the environment. As the person responsible for EHS, my top priority is to ensure that our processes are in line with the company's strategic objectives; sustainability is an important goal here.
How does it feel to be part of this transformation?
As a father of three, the transition to a more sustainable way of life is very important to me. Sustainability improves our quality of life, protects our ecosystem and preserves natural resources for future generations.
Where do you see your topic in the future?
The reduction or elimination of CO2e emissions will be the dominant topic in the coming years. This is a complex challenge that will require global efforts to overcome.
What does sustainability mean to you personally?
For me, sustainability means living in such a way that what we consume does not far exceed what we contribute. It's about looking after our planet so that we can continue to live well and in harmony with it.
How relevant do you think the topic of sustainability is?
In my opinion, the topic of sustainability has not been anchored in our consciousness for very long, but it is becoming increasingly important and is rapidly gaining in significance. Sustainability should and must not only be an important factor for the economy, but also for all of us. I believe that the relevance of sustainability becomes clear once you learn about it and understand how it affects your own life.
How does sustainability affect you outside of work?
For me, it's about laying the foundation early on with my children and teaching them to avoid wasting resources by recycling. We need to make a conscious effort to live more sustainably.
