In which area do you work at DRÄXLMAIER? What do you do in your job?
I´m responsible for the oversight and administration of the Regional EHS management Systems to support process and data management for environmental, health and safety and to drive strategic initiatives to meet business needs.

How is your role related to the topic of sustainability?
A key role regarding sustainability is to design, develop, implement, execute and sustain region-wide environmental permit management and pollution prevention programs.

How does your work contribute to the sustainability goals of the DRÄXLMAIER Group?
Our foundation in EHS is to ensure we protect the health and safety of employees and the public as well as the environment from hazards associated with the workplace. As Governance of EHS, it is a priority to ensure our process aligns with the strategic corporate goals; a key goal is sustainability.

How does it feel to be part of this transformation?
As a father of three, the transformation to a more sustainable focus is very important. Sustainability improves the quality of our lives, protects our ecosystem and preserves natural resources for future generations.

Where do you see your topic in the future?
Decarbonization. To reduce or eliminate carbon emissions will be the running topic for many years to come. Decarbonization is a complicated challenge that will require a global effort to achieve.

What does sustainability mean to you personally?
To me, sustainability means living so that what we consume does not vastly exceed what we contribute. It is to take care of our planet so that our planet can continue to take care of us.

How relevant do you think the topic of sustainability is?
Sustainability as we know, is still in the developmental stage, but is continuing to grow rapidly and more relevant. It not only should, but must being a driving force in today’s business environment as well as individual contribution. I believe to make a topic relevant, you must understand and educate yourself on how the topic of sustainability impacts your life.

How does sustainability affect you outside of work?
For me, it´s to lay the foundation early with my children to recycle and to mitigate unnecessary resources that can impact the environment in a negative manner. To put forth a conscious effort and to ensure your daily lifestyle is focused towards a more positive, impactful manner. We as an organization continue to develop processes and implement procedures to improve sustainability efforts.
