Julia, Project Manager at EHS & Fire Protection Global

"Together with my colleagues, I work every day to ensure the environmental and occupational safety performance of the DRÄXLMAIER Group and to continuously improve it. We contribute to both environmental and social sustainability."

In which area do you work in at DRÄXLMAIER? What do you do in your job?

I work as a project manager in the EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) & Fire Protection Global division and provide support worldwide on all topics relating to occupational health and safety, environmental protection and fire protection.

How is your role related to sustainability and to what extent does your work contribute to the sustainability goals of the DRÄXLMAIER Group?

Together with my colleagues, I work every day to ensure and continuously improve the environmental and occupational safety performance of the DRÄXLMAIER Group. In this way, we contribute to both ecological and social sustainability.

We achieve this, for example, through our global reporting in waste management, which enables us to derive measures and concepts to reduce waste and improve recyclability, thus actively preventing the waste of resources. To this end, a binding recycling quota was also adopted for all production sites in 2021, which is to be constantly increased until 2030.

In addition, the sustainability requirements of customers and stakeholders are also increasing, which we take into account through our EHS management system and the optimization of internal standards and processes. We successfully ensure this worldwide by auditing and certifying all sites in accordance with internationally recognized standards.

Last but not least, the reduction of accidents at work, the design of healthy workplaces and participation in the further development of occupational health management also play a key role in this context.

How does it feel to be part of this transformation?

As an employee at DRÄXLMAIER, it is fun to work every day for the success of our sustainable and future-oriented mobility solutions. The increasing importance of our tasks in EHS gives you the feeling of making an active contribution to a more sustainable present and future and also of taking personal responsibility.

Where do you see your topic in the future?

Issues such as environmental protection, health and safety at work are increasingly becoming the focus of corporate activity, and rightly so. I am therefore convinced that the tasks in our team are already very important and that we can drive this change forward together with added value.

What does sustainability mean to you personally?

Protecting the climate and the environment is one of our greatest social challenges - our behavior and the way we use our resources also play a decisive role in this. Looking to the future and to future generations should motivate us all to think differently and to live and act more sustainably.

More sustainability in no way restricts our quality of life - but what happens if we don't change anything? We are already feeling the effects of climate change, even in Europe. For me, sustainability is not just a term, but I see it as a responsibility towards people, the environment and society.

How does sustainability affect you outside of work?

I also strive for a sustainable lifestyle in my everyday life: for example, we also drive an all-electric car privately, whether for the weekly shop or on vacation in Italy. Conscious consumption is also important to me - seasonal and regional shopping is very easy and my personal contribution to greater sustainability.
