2010 - 2019: Four product segments

new horizons

In 2011, DRÄXLMAIER developed the first door panel in the world with visible natural fibers. With this natural fiber look, the company set new aesthetic standards for the automotive interior. The door panel went into series production in the fully-electrical BMW i3.

Another Chinese plant was added in 2010 – this time in Xiaoshi. Since 2010, DRÄXLMAIER has also a plant in Masaya, Nicaragua. In 2012, DRÄXLMAIER not only expanded its production area in Shenyang, it also set up a fully-integrated production plant in Macedonia. DRÄXLMAIER has since become one of the largest employers in the central European country.

Fostering expertise

Dual vocational training

Not only does DRÄXLMAIER expand abroad, it also brings along its very own expertise. Initiated by the company, the dual vocational training system modeled according to the German standard begins in Brasov, Romania. It is introduced in China in 2014.

Outstanding surface: With DecoSOUL, DRÄXLMAIER developed a material that could be very individualized to fit into any design. The product received the reddot Design Award.

In 2016, there was a reason to celebrate: BMW had been a DRÄXLMAIER customer for 50 years. The company supports the automobile manufacturer with its expertise and provides guidance for vehicle projects from the initial idea through series delivery.

DRÄXLMAIER continued to grow. In 2017, new sites were added in Matehuala (Mexico) and Livermore (USA). These were followed the next year by plant openings in Anshan (China) and Chonburi (Thailand).

In 2018, the company celebrated its 60th anniversary. Fritz Dräxlmaier, partner and at that time CEO of the DRÄXLMAIER Group, was awarded honorary citizenship of the city of Vilsbiburg.

In the same year, the DRÄXLMAIER Campus was set up in GALILEO near the Technical University of Munich in Garching. There, DRÄXLMAIER developers, together with professors from the TUM, research future topics for the automotive industry.

DRÄXLMAIER has a feel for what is coming in the future. The company built their first highly-automated battery production site in Sachsenheim near Stuttgart. After its opening in June 2019, the complete high-performance 800 volt battery systems for the Porsche Taycanare produced there.
