Dräxlmaier Group acquires four BMW i3 for emission-free business travel

29. April 2014 The Dräxlmaier Group shows with this initiative that electrical mobility is conquering not only big cities, but also more and more rural areas. The group has acquired four BMW i3 vehicles for its car pool at the Vilsbiburg, Germany site. Employees can now travel completely emission-free on their business trips.

The ceremonial transfer of the vehicles took place at the BMW World in Munich. The topics of sustainability and climate protection were crucial in the procurement of the first electrical vehicles by the Dräxlmaier Group.

"We want to promote the mobility of our employees and at the same time reduce the CO2 output of our fleet," said Thomas Steckermeier, manager of sales (BMW) at the Dräxlmaier Group. "Since we supply the door panels made from renewable raw materials, the wiring harness system and the high-voltage controls for the BMW i3, it was the clear choice for us."

Together with Karl Wallner, executive director for production and logistics; Friedrich Neumeier, manager of sales (components); and Robert Huber, car pool management, Steckermeier took delivery of the vehicles. The Dräxlmaier-developed natural fiber interior trim in the BMW i3 is a prime example of innovative lightweight construction and sustainability. The company received the BMW Supplier Innovation Award 2013 in the “New Technology Experience” category for this.

    Everyday sustainability
The new i3 electrical vehicles passed their first range test on the trip from Munich to Vilsbiburg with flying colors. There are already two e-charging stations set up on the company properties of the Dräxlmaier Group in Vilsbiburg and Geisenhausen. Employees of the Dräxlmaier Group can use the vehicles for business travel starting immediately. Thanks to these new electrical company cars, the group is now the pioneer in sustainability in the entire region.
