Innovations across the Sectors

07. November 2014 DRÄXLMAIER presents innovative electronic systems and lighting at the electronica

Munich/Vilsbiburg – 7th November 2014. The DRÄXLMAIER Group will present innovative high-voltage connectors, lamellar contacts and RGB ambient lighting for use throughout the industry at the electronic fair in Hall B3 at Stand 256 in Munich from 11th to 14th November.

    Robust High-Voltage Connection
DRÄXLMAIER HV connectors are suitable for cross-sectional areas of 16 to 50 mm² in aluminium and copper wires and meet all the safety requirements for voltages up to 1,000 volt and high direct currents. The connector has proved to be extremely thermally stable and resistant to ageing in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 170°C. For example, at 83°C, the ampacity of a 50 mm² wire is 275 ampere.  Added to that, the water-proof HV connector is compatible with AK interfaces and has closed 360°C contacting as well as line terminals with long-range stability. The ruggedness of the HV connector was proven in vibrations tests on rough road sections and high speed routes with good results. It meets the vibration resistance requirements stipulated in LV 215. In addition, it has very good EMC shielding. HV connectors are available in two-phase and three-phase models with the corresponding header.

    Allround Contacting
The patented "dLAM" lamellar contact of the DRÄXLMAIER Group is a versatile contact system for pressed screens, conductor rails or plug-in relays. The DRÄXLMAIER dLAM demonstrates its advantages there are high currents, small installation spaces and low transition resistances. On the one hand, lamellar contacts can be bundled in lots of two, three, four and six, depending on the intended use, whereby in the latter variant, a constant ampacity of up to 120 A in relation to the size is guaranteed. On the other hand, the dLAM exhibits low transition resistance of 0.6mm to 0.8 mΩ and is resistant to temperatures up to 170°C. The tensile strength of the lamellar contact is between 350 N/mm² and 450 N/mm².

Lamellar contacts are made of copper (Cu-ETP). Gold, silver and tin can be used as contact surfaces. The thickness of the lamellar contacts is between 0.80 mm and 1.00 mm. The DRÄXLMAIER dLAM has been used in standard production innumerable times for years now. It is used wherever installation space is limited and where there are high currents.

Creating a mood with ambient lighting
Pleasant lighting and unobtrusive colors create a sense of well-being and an agreeable ambience. From aircraft interiors to train compartments, ship cabins and furniture, right up to bars or vehicle interiors. The ambient lighting made by the DRÄXLMAIER Group makes it possible.

The advantages of LED ambient lighting at a glance:
    - Over 24 million colors can be produced with three semi-conductor chips (red, green and blue) for each RGB-LED
    - Individual lighting scenarios ("Welcome", warnings, etc.)
    - The RGB-LED and the corresponding synthetic optical fiber need only limited installation space
    - LED housing: 12 x 17 x 16 mm, optical fiber connection: diameter of 6 mm
    - Flexible application due to small dimensions, depending on the application
    - No changes in brightness and color intensity throughout longer periods
    - Production by DRÄXLMAIER rules out any production-related tolerances in the color and brightness of the RGB-LED; that ensures that color shades can be provided as ordered by the users.
    - Development and production all from one source
    - Large-scale production is possible
