Next exit: the future

20. January 2020 Autonomous, networked driving, electro-mobility and digitalization are redefining the role of the automobile. As a leading supplier, DRÄXLMAIER is taking part in changing the face of mobility: five reasons for change in the automobile industry.

1. Partner to the turning point of mobility

The diverse production portfolio of DRÄXLMAIER is pre-destined for the future fields of connectivity, automated driving, digital services and  electric drivetrains. We develop and manufacture exclusive interior components, battery systems and electrical wiring systems. As a market and technology leader in these fields, we have been a highly sought-after development partner and supplier to the who’s who of premium automakers since 1958: Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Porsche and Volkswagen. To live up to this responsibility, DRÄXLMAIER has set up a global network with more than 75,000 employees at 60 sites in 20 countries.

2. Premium on four wheels

Although vehicles interiors used to be rather neglected in favor of exterior design, they have become a matter of greater focus and are now regarded as an important purchasing criterion. The market for such solutions has reached a record high all over the world. Whether it is a station wagon or a SUV, an electric vehicle or an self-driving car: Our customers’ vehicles are becoming innovative comfort zones that have to meet the increasing requirements for ease, individualization and entertainment. This demand is leading to high expectations that  DRÄXLMAIER products should continue to be developed in increasingly shorter innovation cycles.

 3. An innovator for more time for living and less time for driving

Driverless driving is gradually becoming a reality as autonomous driving turns cars more and more into living space. But space for what? Bunk beds on wheels, mobile living-rooms, mobile offices – lots of things seem possible that will increase the demand for more entertainment, safety and passenger comfort. The design of vehicle interiors will have to meet these demands. As the world’s leading supplier of interior solutions, we are the driving force in the development of completely new approaches and concepts that will redefine the way we live and work in the tomorrow’s automobile

4. Electromobility as a hobbyhorse

The future of private transport is electric. We at DRÄXLMAIER are convinced of that.  Throughout the world, automakers are changing from classical combustion engines to alternative drivetrains. Millions of electric and hybrid vehicles will roll off the production lines over the next few years. The climate change and very low emission limits in many regions of the world are accelerating this development. As early as 10 years ago, we already examined the significance of electromobility as a future technology. Today, we are a system supplier for intelligent battery systems. But why stop here? We also want to make the benefits of our interior products and electrical wiring systems a part of the new vehicle generation, and in that way, make them safer and more attractive.

5. Architects for connected driving

Connected cars are mobile data centers that can contain more than 100 control units. In the near future, cars will use communication with the infrastructure and other road users to exchange information on weather and road conditions, on the density of traffic or the availability of parking spaces. This will lead to the creation of more software while more data will flow through the veins of the wiring harness – the automobile nervous system. Today, DRÄXLMAIER electrical wiring systems in premium vehicles are already more than three kilometers long. Development into a fully networked vehicle will take demands for our solutions for electronic systems to a completely new dimension.
