DRÄXLMAIER supports the laying of stumbling blocks in the city of Landshut

12. October 2023 The DRÄXLMAIER Group is donating eight stumbling blocks in memory of victims of the Holocaust.

The DRÄXLMAIER Group is supporting the laying of stumbling blocks in the city of Landshut with a donation of 1,000 euros. The amount will be used to finance the laying of eight memorial stones. A total of 16 stumbling blocks were laid at various locations throughout the city in October. “We are very pleased that DRÄXLMAIER supports the remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust,” emphasizes Landshut Mayor Alexander Putz.

Raise awareness of the individual fates of Jewish citizens
The memorial stones, called stumbling blocks, serve to commemorate victims of the Holocaust and are laid in the ground near the victims' former homes. In recent years, stumbling blocks have been set in more than 1,200 municipalities in Germany and 21 European countries. The stumbling blocks now laid in Landshut are a reminder of Jewish fellow citizens who lived in the city before they fell victim to the Holocaust. Since 2012, stumbling blocks have been laid in the city several times. The aim of the campaign is to give often forgotten individual fates a place in the public consciousness.

“As a company with roots in the region, it is very important to us to give the fates of 16 Jewish citizens who lived here a dignified place in the public consciousness,” emphasizes Tom Wallner, responsible for the DRÄXLMAIER Group’s activities in the area Corporate Social Responsibility.
